Canadian Experience Class
(Quebec destined immigrants are not eligible for this Class)

This application is for Temporary Workers and recent graduates with Canadian credentials (diplomas) who are already in Canada and wish to apply for permanent residence.

Canadian Experience Class applications received by the designated Citizenship and Immigration office on or after June 26, 2010, must be accompanied by the results of the principal applicant’s English or French language proficiency assessment.

1. In order to be considered, applications must be completed according to the application kit requirements in place at the time the application is received by the designated office.

2. Only test results from a third-party language testing agency designated by the Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism will be accepted. Applicants must be tested in reading, writing, speaking and listening.

3. Applicants will have one year of continuous full-time or equivalent paid work experience in at least one of the listed NOCs and not combined partial year experience in multiple NOCs.


All applicants must have:

legally come to Canada to work or study, and have valid temporary status in Canada at the time of application;

[NOTE: those who have left Canada, but otherwise meet the requirements as workers or graduates, will be eligible to apply provided they do so within one year of leaving their job in Canada.]

work or studies in occupations that meet the minimum requirements; that is
in a managerial, professional, skilled trade or technical occupation.

evidence of proficiency in the English or French language (reading, writing, listening and speaking). Native speakers may submit written proof. Non-native speakers should submit the results of a language exam such as IELTS.

and

24 months of work experience within the last three years as a temporary foreign worker,

or

12 months of work experience within the last 24 months following graduation from a Canadian post-secondary institution and obtained the necessary Canadian educational credential.

temporary resident status during their qualifying period of work experience and any period of full-time study or training in Canada,

recent work experience in occupations that meet the minimum requirements for workers with Skill Type 0, or Skill Level A or B of the National Occupation Classification (NOC). That is
in a managerial, professional, skilled trade or technical occupation.

must have the qualifying work and study experience needed at the time the application is made,

not engaged in work or attended school without authorization,

not remained in Canada after the time authorized to do so has expired,

not been found inadmissible to Canada on grounds such as health or security.
