To
visit Canada as a tourist you may need a Temporary
Resident Visa before you arrive at a Port of Entry.
Check the list below to see if citizens from your country
must obtain a Visa from a Canadian Visa office nearest
you.
Countries
Whose Citizens Require Visas in Order to Enter Canada
as Visitors
If
you do require a Visa you may be asked to show that your
intention is to visit Canada for a specified period and
then leave Canada to return home or travel elsewhere.
A Visa Officer may want to see what kind of attachments
you have to your country of origin such as full time permanent
employment or full time studies or family ties such as
a spouse and children.
Countries
Whose Citizens DO NOT Require Visas in Order to
Enter Canada as Visitors
If
you DO NOT require a Visa to enter Canada you may arrive
at a Port of Entry to request permission to enter
as a Visitor. However, permission is not automatic and
is at the reasonable discretion of the Immigration Officer
at the Port of Entry. Initial entry, if not otherwise
indicated in your passport, is for a period of six months.
It is possible to renew your Visa from within Canada.
