Study in Canada

With one of the top educational systems in the world Canada welcomes tens of thousands of foreign students to post-secondary institutions across the country every year.

To study in Canada for more than 6 months you must obtain a Study Permit in your country of origin or of legal residence. No Study Permit is required for study 6 months or less.

To obtain a Study Permit you must:

apply in your country of origin or legal residence. You cannot apply in Canada.
show proof that you have been admitted to a recognized post-secondary institution in Canada;
show proof of payment of tuition fees;
show proof that you have sufficient funds to support yourself for one year;
have a passport valid for at least one year at the time of application.
complete an application form and submit the appropriate fees.
spouses are usually eligible to accompany post-secondary students and may apply for Temporary Work Permits once in Canada.
full time students may be allowed to work off campus.

In an interview you may be required to convince the Visa Officer that you intend to return to your country of origin once you have completed your studies.

In some cases you may be asked to undergo medical exams and provide proof you have no criminal record.
